Saturday 23rd August 2008 - Grapevine Flier

Please Note: Due to operational issues, the Grapevine Flyer will depart from Platform 14 at Southern Cross Station at 9.15am, will depart Essendon at 9.34am and will depart Broadmeadows at 9.49am. This train will depart Seymour at 6.35pm arriving at Broadmeadows at 7.51pm and Essendon at 8.02pm arriving at Southern Cross at 8.20pm.

As wintertime is upon us, it is the perfect opportunity to travel north by steam train to Seymour and the Goulburn Valley aboard “The Grapevine Flier”. Relive the past onboard our heritage steam hauled
train before sampling the delightful wines and foods of the region.

Our steam train, hauled by one of our 1950’s built R Class locomotives, departs from Southern Cross Station at 8.50am, taking you northwards; climbing over the Great Dividing Range and onwards to Seymour.

At Seymour, board road coaches for the Puckapunyal option or for the wineries tour.

Winery Tour
After a short drive up to Nagambie, we’ll be starting off at Tahbilk wines and then be able to tantalize your tastebuds with their Dalfarras range. Relax and soak in the atmosphere of the wetlands or admire the works of art in the ‘Dalfarras Gallery’.

We will then proceed to the Mitchleton winery, the heart of the Victorian Shiraz. Take your time to sample their range of Michleton and Blackwood Park wines.

Our final winery on our journey will be at Plunkett’s nestled in the Strathbogie Ranges. Sample their selection of wines from their Strathbogie Range and Blackwood Ridge varieties.
